Description: Robert Bonner (Cree Nation) and the young boy in the photo became friends at Carnegie Community Action Project (CCAP) meetings. They often play together, especially when the little guy starts to get bored. "Now that he's older, I can take him outside and let him run," says Robert. "he likes it whenever he sees me." This photo was taken before an action coordinated by CCAP called A-wake, a mock funeral procession to show how condo development impacts the community.
Photographer Bio: Valerie Fielding's photograph was taken outside VANDU. A-wake was the first housing march that Valerie ever participated in. "It was long and I was tired coming back, but it's for a darn good reason," says Valerie who was happy and grateful to be a finalist in the photo contest. Valerie was born in Vancouver and often visits with her Mom, who she says is her best friend. Valerie is a member of the women's group Positive Outlook.
